Codes for research
LaTeX for academic writing
Richard Stanton of UCLA Berkeley provides a very useful document in writing finance papers
using LaTeX on his website.
Some publishers also provide LaTeX template, for example INFORMS,
Springer, and
Elsevier.
For more templates, visit latextemplates.com.
LaTeX can be obtained from MacTeX (for Mac users)
and MiKTeX website (for Windows/Mac/Linux users).
For Mac users, I recommend to use TeXShop as LaTeX editor
and for Windows users, I suggest to use Texmaker or
TeXnicCenter respectively.
Any tables in Excel can be converted into LaTeX codes by using excel2latex add-ins.
I recommend Jabref,
Mendeley, or
Zotero
for bibliography reference management software.
I modified UI thesis style written by Andreas Febrian et al. using the LaTeX typesetting system.
Since this is not an official template by the University, it (hopefully) follows and complies
with Universitas Indonesia’s thesis writing rules.
The updated codes can be download here.
The template is in Bahasa Indonesia. Any suggestions are welcome.
R for finance
For those who are interested in using opensource software for finance research,
CRAN repository
contains more than 3000 packages that provide various additional capabilities.
R can be used in a programming language (like Python) or in a script environment for data analysis.
Talks
I gave talks or workshops where some of the materials are provided below.
